It was not feasible
to be completely comprehensive or to include every piece in the study
collection on the website. Except where indicated otherwise, illustrated
pieces are in the Cumming Collection at The Gardiner Museum of Ceramic
Art or in the private collection. The identification marks for the
post 1824-period are illustrated in several listed Section V references.
Comments and questions are always welcome, and we will do our best
to answer them or to steer researchers in the right direction.
Inevitably, errors and omissions may have crept into this text. Readers
are invited to bring these to our attention. Revisions will be made
